What started out as a rejection of the clean, sterile, conformist nature of the world we live in today mutated into an event series where the brash and abrasive was celebrated and, two events in, has become somewhat of a movement thrusting itself forcibly into the musical landscape of Chelmsford.
EMOM’s back at Hot Box next week, for it’s bi-monthly stint, on Wednesday 15th and Resonance regulars will notice a few members of our community on the flyer. DA22A, Nick Smith (performing with Jo Morrison) and Bang Bang Beep Beep will be laying down the beats, rhythms and noises alongside a stellar collection of electronic artists.
2024 has almost come to a close and it’s been a great year for us. Open System has gone from strength to strength and we’ve launched two new events series in Underground Resistors and Beton Brut. But we’re not resting on laurels as we’ve already booked up all our 2025 dates.
Next weekend (28th and 29th September) sees the first ever podcast festival come to Essex. The brand new multi venue event, brought to you by Chelmsford For You, features a mix of live podcasts, networking and workshops hosted in various venues across the city centre.
Next week Control Voltage’s Chelmsford EMOM returns to our favourite arch, Hot Box, for another night of live electronic music featuring a host of local talent, including Brokenatoms and Kontort.
Béton Brut returns to Radio City Social on Saturday the 28th of September. Béton Brut 01, held in May 2024, was well received by both RCS regulars and fans of the darker sides of electronic music.
Word has since spread across musicians and connoisseurs since the event was held, so make sure to put the date in your diary for something genuinely unique happening in Chelmsford.
On the 4th April Stark (David Gooday and Simon Granger) & Sixth Circle (BrokenAtoms and Social Conduct) fired up the machines for a masterclass in improvised performance. Expertly programmed beats intertwined with spell binding rhythms that kept us amazed and entertained for the best part of 2 hours.
But the music was not the only spectacle on the night. As is often the case, the gear porn had the crowd amazed and intrigued in equal measure with plenty asking what we had, how it was setup and what we used it for.
