What started out as a rejection of the clean, sterile, conformist nature of the world we live in today mutated into an event series where the brash and abrasive was celebrated and, two events in, has become somewhat of a movement thrusting itself forcibly into the musical landscape of Chelmsford.
The next logical step for the project was to capture this unapologetic ode to our industrial heritage and release it into the world in an act of utter defiance.
And thus Beton Brut Records is born.
Our first release lands next week. A representation of the first event featuring live recordings and reimaginations of the sounds, textures and atmospheres that punctuated Chelmsford’s scene with such force and aggression. 4 tracks from Brokenatoms, Instrument of Darkness, Social Conduct and Ruin Doctrine (a collaboration between Brokenatoms and I.O.D).
The EP begins with the jarring stabs, growling basslines and cavernous reverberated spaces of ‘Memetic’ from Brokenatoms. Instrument Of Darkness follows with the giant kick to the solar plexus that is ‘Burn’. Distorted kicks, militant snares and cataclysmic synth lines all hit hard. ‘No Absolute Truths’ from Social Conduct is the live take from last May’s industrial riot. A wall of noise sculpted by sidechain into a swirling tsunami of relentless attack. The EP rounds off with ‘Onkalo’ from Ruin Doctrine, a beatless vessel to bring you back from the stratosphere and complete your abduction, laying you motionless on a concrete bed, twitching yourself to sleep.
